Dog owners want their dog to be well behaved. Dog training differs from house training to teaching the dog on how to stay and sit. Regardless of training you want for your dog, there are useful methods that can help you in the process.
One important dog training tip is to have positive reinforcement. There are some dog owners who train their dogs with negative methods and this is not a good way to train any dog. Instead of scolding, yelling or giving your dog negative attention, it is recommended to receptively emphasize his good behaviors while training. Use petting, praise and treats every time he executes well. It is best to keep the training fun and pleasurable for both you and your do so you have to make sure that you utilize positive reinforcement to achieve best results.
Another dog training tip is to keep every training session short. Dogs are the same as children, they have short attention span and can be easily overwhelmed by tons of new information at a time. If you teach them a lot of things in just one setting, they would easily forget about it. Make sure to have training sessions for about fifteen to twenty minutes. During training, try to concentrate on just one new instruction and reviewing earlier commands. This way, your dog can remember the training better.
It is also important to use a firm and pleasant voice. The kind of voice you use is very important when training your dog. You have to ensure that your voice suggests that you are the one who is in control but never sound unpleasant and rude.
Be patient with your dog. Dog training requires a lot of patience in order to be effective. It may seem difficult but you need to make sure to show plenty of patience to your dog instead of frustration. If you think that you do not have enough patience, it is better to send your dog to an obedience school or hire somebody else to do the job.
